The Team:

The Office of the Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer (OCNMO) are a small, high performing, outcomes focussed team. The OCNMO provides strategic leadership and professional practice advice on a diverse range of issues relating to the nursing and midwifery professions. Our priorities focus on, but are not limited to, strategic planning, policy, workforce, research, education and training locally, nationally and internationally.

The Role:
  • Manages and coordinates activities that support strategic midwifery initiatives in Tasmania.
  • Utilises highly developed understanding of professional midwifery practice to manage projects that contribute to the strategic objectives of the Department of Health (DoH).
  • Establishes and maintains consultative and collaborative links within the DoH, with community and industry representatives, and with other external stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Engages with and represents the interests of Tasmania in professional networks locally, nationally and internationally.
  • Provides support for committees (or other groups) associated with the functions of the Office of the Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer.

You will need:
  • Proven ability to apply rigorous project management methodology in managing a broad range of projects to meet agreed time, cost and quality outcomes.
  • A broad and demonstrated understanding of the current healthcare system and knowledge of national and international trends relating to the midwifery profession, workforce and service delivery.
  • High level analytical, conceptual, strategic, research and creative skills and the ability to apply these within political, industrial and organisational environments.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of up to twelve (12) months.
  • notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Midwife

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Current Driver's Licence
