We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Year 9 Humanities and English Teacher to join our team at our Year 9 City Campus. This is a unique opportunity to inspire students during a pivotal stage of their learning journey, in an environment that values innovation, student voice, and real-world learning.
This is a part-time (0.8 FTE) ongoing position commencing Term 1, 2026.
Our Year 9 unique program consolidates learning from Years 7 – 8 to provide a strong preparation for the independence and responsibility of Years 10 – 12. The City Experience challenges and encourages students to engage fully in learning and thinking. The location plays a key part in their education, with students developing thinking tools to understand the complexity of Melbourne as a city, and the social and emotional tools to participate constructively in their community - read more about our Year 9 City Experiencehere.
The successful applicant will be required to attend events and staff days occasionally at the College's main campus, located at Research.
About the Role- Teach Year 9 Humanities and English as part of an integrated and experiential curriculum.
- Provide pastoral care and wellbeing support to students, guiding them through the challenges of adolescence and city-based learning.
- Collaborate with a dedicated team to create engaging, challenging, and relevant learning experiences for the students.
- Support students to develop critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Contribute to the broader life of the College through co-curricular programs.
- Registered VIT Teacher with relevant tertiary qualifications in Education with a strong knowledge of Humanities and English curriculum.
- Creative and flexible in your approach to teaching, with a willingness to embrace inquiry-based and experiential learning.
- Skilled in providing pastoral care and building strong relationships with young people.
- Committed to continuous professional learning and contributing to the collaborative culture of the College.
- Knowledge of child safe practices, including reporting requirements.
