The Learning, Teaching & Curriculum (LTC) division sits within the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & Student Life) portfolio at the University of Wollongong. Working in flexible, responsive multidisciplinary teams, LTC works in partnership with stakeholders to drive innovation and sector-leading practice in learning and teaching for the benefit of our students, and to secure UOW's position at the forefront of higher education excellence. The Educational Design team within LTC are responsible for the design, development and implementation of digital pedagogies, strategies and technologies into teaching and curriculum, with a strong emphasis on quality assessment design and innovation.
The team currently has an opportunity for a full time, ongoing Educational Designer (Curriculum Transformation) based at our Wollongong campus.
OverviewThe Educational Designer (Curriculum Transformation) supports the design and implementation of curriculum initiatives that transform learning and teaching practices, experiences, and environments across a range of diverse disciplines and delivery modes. This role focuses on the design of high-quality curriculum at the learning experience, subject, course, and cross-unit levels. It supports the design and mapping of learning outcomes, assessments, and teaching practices that align with strategic institutional priorities, and leverages the affordances of technology to enhance curriculum design and delivery. The role also contributes to shaping curriculum transformation priorities and innovating models and practices that enhance learning design efficiency, delivery effectiveness, and the overall quality of the student learning experience.
The successful candidate will have:
Responsibilities- Design, develop and implement curriculum initiatives across diverse disciplines and delivery modes.
- Design and map learning outcomes, assessments and teaching practices aligned with strategic priorities.
- Leverage technology to enhance curriculum design and delivery.
- Contribute to shaping curriculum transformation priorities and innovative models and practices.
- Improve learning design efficiency, delivery effectiveness and student learning quality.
- A degree in Education, Instructional Design or an area relevant to teaching and learning; or equivalent experience/education.
- Experience designing and/or reviewing curriculum to enhance or transform learning and teaching outcomes, experiences and environments (e.g., constructive alignment, assessment security, assurance of learning, technology-enhanced learning, inclusive design, and academic integrity).
- Strong learning design and curriculum development knowledge with understanding of educational theories, models, pedagogy and assessment across online, blended and hybrid modes.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills to identify gaps and inform strategic curriculum decisions.
- Experience in reviewing, designing, delivering, and evaluating staff training and professional development in higher education.
- Knowledge of sector-wide education trends and emerging challenges in curriculum design, transformation and innovation (including awareness of generative AI opportunities).
- Authoring skills and experience with educational platforms (e.g., Moodle) and digital technologies to design inclusive learning practices across contexts and modes.
- High-level organisational, time and project management skills with ability to work autonomously and collaboratively on projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
