Data Governance and Stewardship Specialist

Your Role
As a Specialist, Data Governance & Stewardship, you will enable trusted, consistent, and accessible data across the organisation. You'll curate and maintain a centralised library of data assets, business metrics, and definitions to help teams discover, understand, and use data with confidence. You will design and implement governance frameworks, define critical metrics, assign clear ownership, and embed accountability for data accuracy and usage. A core part of your role will be to develop and uphold data quality standards, driving continuous improvement and ensuring high data integrity. You'll coordinate responses to regulatory data requests, ensuring submissions are accurate, validated, and aligned with industry and internal standards. You'll help shape data structures and governance models that support efficient regulatory reporting, while ensuring compliance with the Group Delegations & Authorities Policy and broader governance expectations. This is a permanent position open to candidates based in Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney), Naarm (Melbourne) and Meanjin (Brisbane).

About You

  • A minimum of 5+ years' experience in a data-related role, such as pricing, performance, or data analysis within insurance business.
  • Proven ability to represent business interests in Data Management and Data Stewardship, aligning with compliance obligations.
  • Experience working with the Principal, Data Governance & Risk to implement controls and develop strategies for data retention.
  • Strong communication skills, adept at collaborating and driving data-related strategies.
