
Community Health and Wellbeing Officer

- Band 6: $74,028 per annum (pro rata) + 12% superannuation

Working with the Senior Emergency Management Officer, you will collaborate with internal departments and external partners to raise awareness and strengthen community resilience and recovery.
As part of a supportive team, its focus is working in partnership with our diverse communities to encourage and support participation in community planning and emergency preparedness.
This role will:
- Research and present data from a variety of sources, including population data and health and wellbeing data.
- Provide specialist analysis of data to support decision making, strategic planning and grant applications.
- Identify, analyse and maintain statistics and data relevant to Council projects and information requirements.
- Contribute specialist social planning advice on a broad range of social planning issues to policy development and strategic planning.
- Lead the development, implementation, monitoring and review of the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, Access and Inclusion Action Plan, Social and Affordable Housing Strategy and other relevant policies and projects aimed at enhancing community health and wellbeing.
You're a natural collaborator, engaging with our departments and community partners to raise awareness of, and help address key health, wellbeing and social issues in the community. As you're curious, you'll have a knack for analysing data and able to communicate and present this in an easy-to-understand way.
To be successful in this role, you will also have:
- Tertiary qualifications or extensive professional experience in a relevant field such as health promotion, public health, public policy or community development.
- Experience in social planning, data analysis, health promotion, advocacy, community development or project management in health or social issue.
- A good understanding of the role of government in supporting community activity and emergency management.
- Ability to work with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and the community on a range of issues of varying complexities and sensitivities.
- Experience in evidence based strategic planning that incorporates an understanding of the needs of the community and stakeholders.
- Ability to apply well developed project management skills to a wide range of community projects and programs.
- Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills targeting a broad audience with the ability to engage and inspire.
