Overview

Acting Middle Leader (2pt) - Pastoral and Learning Support — Illawarra Mercury. A temporary full-time Acting Middle Leader (2pt) position commencing 27 January 2026 until 17 December 2026. The successful applicant will be required to support and meet the pastoral and well-being needs of students in a selected Stage and will work closely with the Leader of Student Wellbeing and the Principal.

The role of Middle Leader exists to support the principal in implementing the vision and mission of the school, to support growth in faith and improvement in learning for students and assist the school leadership team in the conduct and organisation of the school.

Responsibilities
  • Support and meet the pastoral and well-being needs of students in a selected Stage.
  • Collaborate with the Leader of Student Wellbeing and the Principal.
  • Assist the school leadership team in the conduct and organisation of the school and contribute to implementing the school's vision and mission.
Essential Selection Criteria
  • A deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic School within the broader Catholic Church.
  • A commitment to promoting and embedding the school's values in pastoral programs and practices.
  • A strong understanding of contemporary approaches to student well-being and management.
  • The demonstrated ability to lead and work collaboratively with staff.
  • The demonstrated ability to support students with challenging behaviours.
  • The demonstrated ability to build a positive learning culture of high expectations for all, with an emphasis on differentiated learning to meet the holistic needs of all students.
  • The ability to use data to discern the individual needs of students and be able to source appropriate support.
Desirable Selection Criteria
  • Ability and willingness to teach Religious Education.
General Capabilities
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
Qualifications
  • Appropriate qualifications for teaching.
  • Appropriate additional qualifications or experience in a relevant area.
  • Level C Accreditation aligned in accordance with the Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in Systemic Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Wollongong policy or a commitment to gain within the first contractual period.
  • NESA Accreditation at Proficient Teacher level or above.
Working With Children Clearance

This role is classified as child related work and therefore a Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to employment.
