Remuneration: Dependent on Qualifications

  • Psychologist – $39.01 - $57.10 per hour
  • Counsellor, Sexual Assault Worker and Social Worker Level 4 – $61.35 - $62.84 per hour

What You'll Be Doing

The Safe Wayz Program is for children under 10 who display problematic or harmful sexual behaviours (PHSB). The Safe Wayz Senior Clinician roles (1.6 FTE) sit within the Integrated Violence Prevention & Response Service (IVPRS). IVPRS provides leadership, clinical services and capacity building in the portfolio areas of sexual assault, domestic violence and child protection. The Senior Clinician will coordinate the Program within WSLHD, adopting a strength-based, family-focused, culturally centred, trauma-informed approach to working with children and families to prevent escalation of harmful behaviours.

Essential Criteria
  • Licence: Current NSW Driver's Licence.
  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor's degree) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Graduate Certificate in Human & Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma), with demonstrated cultural expertise.
  • Evidence of Diversity claim: Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
Selection Criteria
  • This is an identified Aboriginal Position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures and established links with their local Aboriginal community.
  • Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor's degree) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Graduate Certificate in Human & Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma), with demonstrated cultural expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to create Aboriginal community connections and collaboration to affect outcomes, with understanding of intergenerational trauma and cultural safety principles.
  • Demonstrated understanding and skills in child-centred, family-focused counselling, support and case management to address problematic or harmful sexual behaviours with young children and their carers.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide culturally responsive counselling services and a commitment to clinical and cultural supervision and professional education.
  • Understanding of the legal and policy framework governing child protection in NSW.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work as part of a small therapeutic team.
  • Valid unrestricted drivers' licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
