Overview

The Opportunity: We seek a Technical Writer to join a dynamic Bid Submissions Team within the Pre-Contracts hub. This pivotal role will create, shape, and drive compelling written content that underpins opportunities and bids, ensuring excellence and consistency across submissions. As a Technical Writer, you will collaborate with Bid Managers, Opportunity Owners, and Subject Matter Experts to produce high-quality technical responses that align with business objectives, values, and client expectations. Your work will be central to winning business, particularly in responding to Defence clients, where clarity, compliance, and persuasiveness are critical.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop high-quality, tailored written content for bids and proposals, based on SME input and business unit requirements.
  • Translate bid solutions into compelling narratives that showcase features, benefits, added value, and social outcomes.
  • Collaborate with team members to shape win themes, key messages, and case studies that strengthen submission impact.
  • Attend and contribute to bid kick-off meetings, workshops, and regular progress reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with all submission requirements, including formatting, structure, criteria, and timelines.
  • Drive internal writing schedules to support on-time submission and final document production.
  • Support post-submission activities to refine the content library.
What We're Looking For
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, project management, procurement, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional accreditation (e.g. APMP) or bid-specific training (Shipley, Miller Heiman Strategic Selling) is highly valued.
  • Defence bid/project experience (ASDEFCON, MSP IWPs, Defence work packages) is desirable.
  • Proven experience collaborating with technical SMEs to produce customised content.
  • Strong track record in advanced MS Word use. Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Acrobat, InDesign) is preferable.
  • A team player who can collaborate with diverse stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts.
What's In It For You
  • Your Employer – You will join a significant organisation that is highly skilled and well-resourced in delivering successful bids.
  • Impactful work – Your words will directly contribute to securing major Defence contracts.
  • Collaboration & culture – You will be part of a high-performing, supportive team that values knowledge sharing and success.
  • Variety & challenge – Work on diverse bids and projects where no two days are the same.
  • Recognition & visibility – Play a key role in shaping outcomes that matter with healthy career potential
  • Hybrid working – 3 days in the office, 2 from home. Some interstate travel to offer variety and build strong peer networks
  • Total salary package between $135,000 - $150,000 is on offer.

If you are ready to show your ability to craft compelling content to play a central role in winning key contracts, we want to hear from you
