Responsibilities- As part of a team
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on communications equipment, antennas and associated cabling/feeder systems to the Lowest Replaceable Unit (LRU), alongside configuration and troubleshooting of related software across multiple platforms.
- Assist engineering teams in the successful setting to work of platforms, providing technical support and ensuring adherence to established procedures.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders on technical maintenance and support activities to develop solutions and assist in resolving technical, maintenance and support requests and directing unresolved issues to the appropriate channels.
- Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and accurate documentation – including post-activity reports, completion reports, system and sub-system specifications – to support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting efforts.
- Ensure strict adherence to approved work practices and all relevant Work Health and Safety (WHS) procedures, with specific responsibility for ESD prevention, electronic equipment handling, and safe working at heights.
- Participate in and support the assembly, installation, test, and commissioning of systems and products.
- Reviewing and ensuring activities comply with R&S and customer plans, procedures, and regulations.
- Pro-actively manage customer expectations regarding incident and service request resolutions.
- Certificate IV in Electrotechnology and Communications or equivalent qualification.
- Highly desirable to have previous experience with the repair and maintenance of communication systems, including but not limited to:
- HF, VHF, UHF Radio Systems
- SATCOM Systems
- Secure Voice and Cryptographic Systems
- IT Infrastructure, including network and desktop hardware
- Configuration and management of software applications
- Highly desirable to have previous experience working within Defence
- Highly desirable to have previous experience working onboard Maritime Platforms
- Eligible to obtain Australian Citizenship.
- Eligible to obtain an Australian Security Clearance up to a Negative Vetting Level 1
- Eligible to access/handle export-controlled technology, data, and information.
- Current, unrestricted Australian driver's licence
- Available to respond to short-notice on-demand domestic travel for service actions, with occasional international travel.
- Ability to support occasional work outside standard working hours
This position requires the ability to access ITAR controlled material. Applicants should ensure they meet the US State Department requirements for access. The Australian NV1 security clearance may be required as part of the assessment criteria, with accompanying government vetting and background checks. Australian citizenship and/or permanent residency may be required as part of NV1 eligibility.

Though a security clearance is not mandatory for all positions, all offers of employment for this position are conditional on the candidate being able to meet Australian NV1 security clearance requirements which will form part of the assessment criteria of the role. The Australian Government requires a comprehensive security and background check as part of their vetting process. NV1 security requirement details include Australian Citizenship and/or Permanent Residency.
This role also requires access to ITAR controlled material. Please ensure you meet the requirements of the US State Department for access to ITAR controlled material before applying for this position.
