Great things start here

RACV is an organisation that's broader and bigger than you think – beyond the trusted roadside assistance and insurance lines, and significant portfolio of Travel and Leisure experiences, RACV is also one of the biggest installers of Solar energy in Victoria, and it's a much broader organisation outside of the RACV brand and outside of Victoria with numerous Australian and international subsidiaries and associates. At its core, RACV is the largest member organisation in Victoria, and we're trusted to be there for our over 2 million members.

About the Opportunity

The Mobile UI Lead is a strategic, hands-on role responsible for shaping the RACV mobile app experience. Collaborating with senior leaders, developers, designers, and product teams, this role drives best-practice mobile design to meet member needs and enhance engagement across iOS and Android platforms.

Key responsibilities include leading the mobile UI design roadmap, delivering end-to-end UI for new features, and maintaining RACV's mobile design system to ensure consistency, scalability, and efficiency. The role requires balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints, while aligning with RACV's broader digital strategy.

The Mobile UI Lead champions a culture of continuous improvement, using member feedback, analytics, and platform trends to inform design decisions. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential to ensure cohesive execution across teams.

Come along for a new journey

You'll be instrumental in ensuring our Membership & Digital team deliver exceptional service. Here's a glimpse of what you'll be doing:

  • Own and deliver end-to-end mobile UI design across our RACV app on iOS and Android, from concept to release and ongoing iteration, leveraging agile, lean UX and mobile design principles.
  • Ensure app design excellence through deep understanding of iOS Human Interface Guidelines and Google Material Design (Android), applying best practice for mobile UX/UI.
  • Create and communicate interaction flows, UI patterns, visual hierarchy, micro-interactions and animations optimised for mobile platforms.
  • Articulate and measure app UI/UX ROI and customer experience gains.
  • Monitor, analyse and act upon app store feedback, ratings and competitor apps to ensure digital competitiveness.
  • Proactively remove roadblocks and facilitate trade-offs with product and engineering teams for optimal mobile outcomes.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of designers with a focus on upskilling in mobile UI/UX best practices, mobile interaction design and platform guidelines.
  • Ensure the mobile design system supports long-term growth, innovation, and consistency across the app experience.
  • Guide the translation of design concepts into detailed high-fidelity UI assets optimised for mobile app development (native and hybrid)
  • Develop mobile design strategy and execution through customer insights, app usage analytics and member feedback.
  • Guide the strategic direction of mobile UI design by anticipating future member needs, platform advancements, and design trends.

What you'll need to be successful

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver best-in-class native mobile app designs across iOS and Android.
  • Up to date with latest mobile standards and trends in mobile UI patterns
  • Tertiary qualified in UX Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design or related fields.
  • 8+ years professional experience in mobile app UI/UX design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating successful delivery of mobile-first designs.
  • Experience coaching designers in mobile design principles and platform guidelines.
  • Experience influencing and collaborating with engineering teams on mobile delivery.
  • Proven ability to drive app experience outcomes that improve customer satisfaction and business KPIs (e.g. app retention, engagement).
  • Demonstrated experience leading in a digital-first, customer-centred environment.
  • Expertise in platform-specific guidelines and accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG adapted for mobile apps).
  • Strong understanding of mobile gestures, animations, responsiveness and device constraints.
  • Proven stakeholder management across marketing, product, engineering and executive level.
  • Strong project management to deliver timely, high-quality mobile app designs.
  • Ability to evangelise and embed mobile-first thinking across broader product teams.
  • Proficiency with a wide range of technology tools, including:
  • Prototyping tools (Figma, ProtoPie, Principle)
  • Experience working with mobile component libraries, design systems and tokens.

There's so much on offer when you join RACV with benefits including

  • Our flexible and informal work environment which helps bring balance between work and home.
  • Generous discounts on home and car insurance policies and RACV roadside care
  • Great discounts across all RACV resorts
