The Opportunity
The Product Prototyping & Evaluation Team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Laboratory Systems Technologist to join the team. The Australian Steel Products portfolio has six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions, and services to our export and domestic customers.
In 2019, BlueScope committed to accelerating digital adoption across our global business, with the Australian Steel Products (ASP) Manufacturing acting as the Lead Location for delivering Asset Intelligence across BlueScope's manufacturing footprint. In this role, you'll work directly on our laboratory information systems servicing our Product Prototyping and Evaluation team. You'll ensure these systems are maintained at an optimal level by providing digital solutions, striving for continuous improvement, and maximizing the efficiency and accuracy of this information.

What Will You Do?
Skills
Utilizing your experience, knowledge, skills, and critical thinking, you will drive digital improvements in laboratories and their information systems. Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying, developing, and implementing leading-edge digital solutions for priority laboratory functions/tasks.
- Delivering functional, efficient, and well-maintained laboratory information systems to the broader team.
- Supporting critical business processes and facilitating their optimization.
More About You
A passion for computer technologies and systems, and the challenges of optimizing their performance, will make you successful. You will bring:
- Experience in manufacturing laboratory processes and production information systems.
- A proven track record of applying technology in an industrial environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and systematic documentation capabilities.
- Organizational skills and a flexible communication style to meet stakeholder needs.
- Experience fostering collaboration across cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders.
Exposure to laboratory information systems, their configuration, and application will be highly regarded. Experience with Labware LIMS, SQL database administration, report building (SAS, PowerBI, Crystal), programming (BASIC), or laboratory equipment integration is advantageous.
