About this Position: We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring financial affairs are conducted efficiently, effectively, and in compliance with local government regulations. You will lead Council's financial and statutory reporting functions, and the operational finance team, comprising of accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking and other general finance functions. You will contribute to continuous improvement of financial reporting systems and processes along with assisting in the preparation of annual budgets and reviews. What We can offer you: Flexible work/life balance - Enjoy working a 9-day fortnight (working 70 hours over 9 days) Employee Assistance and Health & Wellbeing Programs Training and development opportunities including CPD Long service leave can be accessed after 5 years of continuous service What we trust you to deliver: Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of Council's annual financial statements, in full compliance with the Local Government Act Office of Local Government (OLG), executive and council reporting Deliver insightful financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making across the organisation Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a customer-focused, high performing team culture Contribute to budget preparation, forecasting and analysis, providing expert advice to senior managers What you will need to be successful: Ensure efficient and effective operation of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including ensuring timely collection of council dues Working on quarterly business performance reporting Tertiary qualifications in accounting/commerce or business Full membership of a recognised professional institute (CA,CPA, IPA or equivalent) Advanced financial systems literacy, including Microsoft Excel Extensive experience in financial accounting or a relevant field Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and reporting skills Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines Proven ability to lead and mentor a finance team Full position description: Click here Full Time: 70 hours a fortnight Salary: An attractive salary on offer (negotiable for the right candidate) Closing date: Applications will remain open until a suitable pool of candidates have been identified.
