Overview

Mercure Newcastle is seeking a Full Time Breakfast Chef to join our small kitchen team. Are you a talented and passionate chef who loves starting the day with exceptional breakfast dishes? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, friendly environment where quality and customer satisfaction come first?

Mercure Newcastle offers 131 guest rooms, 4 conference rooms and a restaurant and bar catering to a wide range of travelers. This role involves preparing and serving a diverse range of breakfast dishes, from traditional hot breakfasts to healthier and continental options, while ensuring the breakfast section is organized, on time, and presented beautifully.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, cook and serve food for the breakfast buffet showing variety and flair
  • Ensure strict stock rotation and minimum wastage following stock control procedures
  • Keep all working areas clean and tidy. The chef is required to wash all dishes during service
  • Assist with inhouse functions, restaurant and cafe food as required
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained, serviced and cleaned. Report any problems to the Food & Beverage Operations Manager.
Qualifications
  • Experience in buffet breakfast service preferred
  • Deliver consistent, high quality food while maintaining set food cost
  • Work in conjunction with service teams to ensure quality product and service to guests
  • Have great communication skills & a positive attitude
  • Have excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Have willingness to learn and go above and beyond for our guests
