Overview

Numeracy leader and intervention teacher role at Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools. The role is a combined, full-time position with a split allocation: 3.5 days (FTE 0.70) as numeracy intervention teacher and 1.5 days (FTE 0.30) as numeracy leader. The successful applicant should be committed to delivering a high standard of teaching and to contributing to a vibrant, professional team where student learning and wellbeing define our work.

Experience in the role of Numeracy leader is preferred. A passion and enthusiasm for leading learning and a collaborative, team-based approach to teaching are essential. Teaching and learning at our school are contemporary, with collaboration and ongoing professional growth valued to create an effective learning environment for students. Knowledge and experience with the Victorian Curriculum and the ability to develop programs to meet diverse student needs are expected.

Responsibilities
  • Have an understanding, commitment, and support for the values and ethos of the Catholic school and the mission of the Catholic Church
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children in accordance with Child Safe standards
  • Foster and develop professional relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider school community
  • Collaboratively plan and work in a team with flexibility, creativity, passion and enthusiasm
  • View themselves as a lifelong learner and foster that mindset in all students
  • Display initiative and commitment to ongoing improvement
  • Have knowledge of contemporary learning with emphasis on the MACS Vision for Instruction, explicit teaching strategies, and cognitive load theory
  • Have sound knowledge on mental strategies, mathematics concepts, and place value
  • Gather, analyse, and use data (formal and informal) to improve teaching practice, pedagogy, and student outcomes (e.g., PAT-M, NAPLAN)
  • Commit to ongoing professional knowledge and skills in teaching, learning, and student wellbeing
  • Incorporate the Digital Technologies curriculum to engage students
  • Work with children at risk in small groups using targeted programs to improve outcomes
  • Be adaptable and have a sense of humour
  • Hold full VIT registration
  • Be accredited to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school
