What You'll Do

The Manager, Liquidity and Implementation (L&I) Risk will be responsible for supporting the delivery of first line risk activities across L&I, with a particular focus on the department\'s operational risks when trading in listed markets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting the development and implementation of L&I\'s operational risk strategy and risk framework;
  • Providing clear and comprehensive senior level engagement and communication of key L&I operational risk matters to relevant parties;
  • Enhancing the operating environment of L&I by migrating off-platform process to core systems (such as Aladdin);
  • Ensuring specific risk areas (e.g., remediation of incident findings) are integrated with the risk framework for L&I;
  • Contributing to risk reporting/dashboards for L&I and feeding into committee meetings;
  • Facilitating L&I control testing with the Investment, Governance & Accountability (IGA) team and Group Risk.
    • Advising on development of broader non-financial and financial risk coverage within L&I;
    • Supporting the Principal in the delivery of the risk and control plan for the Department;
    • Overseeing continual improvement of junior members\' technical knowledge and risk practices;
    • Engaging with internal and external auditors during audits and ensuring audit findings are addressed by L&I.
      • Providing timely risk reporting with data analysis and insights on risk profiles within L&I;
      • Ensuring risk areas are reviewed, managed, monitored, and integrated with the risk framework and recorded in the GRC system;
      • Facilitating root cause analysis of L&I incidents to identify control weaknesses and ensuring improvements are reflected in process maps and documentation;
      • Identifying systemic issues and events from unidentified risks that may impact the business unit.
      What You'll Need
      • Strong experience in Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk, Financial Risk, Internal or External Audit within a major financial institution, custodian, superannuation fund or insurance office (specific investment exposure is a plus);
      • Understanding of prudential or markets regulations related to risk management and investment governance with experience in first, second, or third line-of-defence risk management;
      • Strong analytical, organizational skills and high attention to detail;
      • Strong written and oral communication/interpersonal skills with the ability to present ideas to senior management;
      • Professional engagement style in risk management;
      • Self-starter; comfortable working in a small team and in a rapidly changing environment;
      • Experience with Governance, Risk and Compliance (Archer GRC) is an advantage;
      • Exposure to BlackRock Aladdin and/or Calypso portfolio management systems preferable;
      • B.Com, B.Fin or equivalent gained in Australia or overseas; industry postgraduate qualifications are beneficial.
