Clinical Program Director Mental - Health & Wellness role at Eastern Health. This is a senior leadership opportunity within the Mental Health and Wellbeing program, reporting to the Executive Director Mental Health and Clinical Support and partnering with the Program Director - Mental Health and Wellbeing to optimise clinical outcomes and performance through quality systems and evidence-based practice.
About Eastern HealthEASTERN HEALTH is the second largest public health service in Victoria with the largest geographical catchment. It employs more than 11,000 people, provides care across five hospital campuses and multiple community locations. The Mental Health and Wellbeing program has over 1,300 staff delivering services to eastern Melbourne and Yarra Ranges across bed-based and community settings. The program comprises two major service streams: Infant, Child and Youth Service (ICYMHS) and the Adult & Older Service, with a focus on consumers aged 18–25 years in line with Royal Commission recommendations. The organisation has implemented the Royal Commission recommendations, expanded the Lived Experience workforce, aims to eliminate restrictive interventions, and is implementing Victoria's Mental Health and Wellbeing Act (2022).
Role purpose and responsibilitiesThe Clinical Program Director oversees the implementation of Medical Professional Governance and Medical Professional Practice across the program for all medical specialties, aligning with Eastern Health's vision of a connected, collaborative, engaged and aligned Medical Profession. The role involves maintaining an active clinical role to bring real-time clinical care insights to the directorate and leading reform initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with the Program Director - Mental Health and Wellbeing to provide accountability and direction to optimise clinical outcomes and performance.
- Oversee Medical Professional Governance and Medical Professional Practice across all medical specialties within the program.
- Maintain an active clinical role within Eastern Health to inform strategic direction and lead reform changes.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Be legally qualified medical practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) without conditions, undertakings or reprimands that could impact clinical practice.
- Have Fellowship of the relevant Australian specialist college.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience in a relevant specialty.
- Meet Eastern Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in the relevant specialty.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple health professions and delivering high-quality mental health services.
- Ability to develop and implement solutions to complex systemic and organisational problems.
- Experience in a large, complex healthcare organisation.
- Clinical and management experience in acute or subacute services and multidisciplinary care models.
- Expertise in healthcare financing and budget management.
- Experience with health industry workforce and industrial systems.
- Proven ability to work with healthcare professionals and executive staff at a senior level.
- Ability to lead high-performing teams and address under-performance issues.
