At Crowne Plaza Canberra, we are seeking a skilled and passionate Demi Chef to join our dinner team, with a primary focus on à la carte service in Redsalt Restaurant, working across the grill and pans section, and delivering perfectly cooked steaks and pasta to our guests.

Every dish tells a story—and we're looking for a chef who can help make it memorable. At Crowne Plaza Canberra, we are seeking a skilled and passionate Demi Chef to join our dinner team, with a primary focus on à la carte service in Redsalt Restaurant, working across the grill and pans section, and delivering perfectly cooked steaks and pasta to our guests.

This role also includes occasional support across banquets and breakfast operations, offering variety and broader experience across our dynamic hotel kitchen.

A Little Taste of Your Day-to-Day

• Run the grill and pans section during dinner service, producing high-quality plated dishes with consistency and flair.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of steak cuts, doneness levels, and presentation techniques.
• Prepare and maintain mise en place for smooth, efficient à la carte service.
• Assist in banquets and breakfast operations when needed—helping across buffet, prep, and live stations.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP compliance.
• Collaborate with the CDP and Sous Chef to ensure timely service, quality control, and team efficiency.
  
  

What We're Looking For

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
• Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a hotel or high-end à la carte restaurant.
• Proven skills on the grill and pans, with excellent knowledge of steak preparation
• Comfortable in fast-paced, high-volume service environments.
• Versatile, proactive, and willing to support across multiple kitchen outlets (banquets, breakfast).
• Positive team player with a growth mindset.
• Must have full working rights in Australia (If you're applying outside of Australia, please specify your Australian work visa status in your application)
