The opportunity :

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Forming Specialist to join our team at Visy Glass, Penrose, Auckland.

As the Forming Specialist, you will report directly to the Forming Manager and are Accountable for solving glass forming problems by examining the faults and data trends, identifying their root cause, and implementing corrective action in order to meet Visy Glass production standards. Responsible for manufacturing quality products whilst maintaining high productivity levels through continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to :

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and company safety and quality standards and promote adherence among all team members. Lead departmental safety initiatives through regular safety talks, hazard identification and risk assessments, accident investigations, audits, and the development of safe operating procedures—demonstrating leadership through personal role modelling.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of and commitment to employment and legislative responsibilities , including those related to safety, anti-discrimination, HR policies, quality, and environmental standards. Provide appropriate training and supervision to ensure employees can perform their duties safely, competently, and to the required standard.
  • Collaborate effectively across departments , including both plant and non-plant teams, to drive improvements in quality, safety, productivity, and workforce outcomes.
  • Investigate glass forming faults , identify root causes, and implement corrective actions in coordination with relevant managers.
  • Conduct production inspections and adjust machine operations as needed to enhance product quality.

What you will bring to the team :

Over 7 years in Glass container manufacturing, specifically in glass conditioning, furnace, forehearth, and / or forming operations.Thorough understanding of the glass melting and conditioning processSignificant experience with Glass furnace colour changes in a forming or forehearth specialist capacityHigh school graduation or equivalentMost importantly, you will hold the safety of yourself and your team above all else
