About Karrinyup Primary School

As a professional learning community, Karrinyup PS's fundamental purpose is to assist all students in developing the knowledge, skills, and behaviours essential for their success in life. Our students are at the heart of everything we do. Our vision is to provide high-quality learning and pastoral care that caters to the needs of all students. This culture of high care enables us to work in positive partnerships with families and the broader community, ensuring that the unique talents and needs of each individual are at the core of our culturally inclusive approach.

Karrinyup PS has a current student enrolment from Kindergarten to Year 6 of 555. It is located just 15 minutes from the CBD and situated in close proximity to the largest shopping centre in Perth, as well as Trigg and Scarborough Beaches. The school grounds feature large amounts of well shaded areas and well-maintained water-wise native Australian garden beds, which all combine to provide a pleasant outlook and recreational space for not only students, but the community as a whole. The grounds include multi-purpose hard courts, oval and specialised playgrounds including a Nature Play area funded by the community.

Our school works closely with the local community to establish and build positive relationships. The school has a strong and proactive School Board and P&C. These groups provide our community with input into the direction that the school will take as we grow and move forward.

The Role

Karrinyup PS is seeking dynamic, reflective, and committed educators to join our growing community. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a school driven by a clear vision and strategic direction outlined in our 2025–2027 Business Plan.

We are committed to high-impact, evidence-based teaching aligned with the Teaching for Impact model. Staff collaborate to deliver consistent, high-quality lessons through shared planning, common lesson design, and regular professional learning.

Suitable applicants should ideally be strong communicators who work effectively in Professional Learning Communities, support whole-school approaches, and demonstrate expertise in explicit instruction and curriculum knowledge. They should create differentiated, challenging, and caring learning environments that cater for all students, using assessment to inform progress and guide planning.

We seek reflective practitioners who should ideally be passionate about quality teaching, committed to continuous improvement, and able to foster a positive, solutions-focused culture. Suitable applicants should ideally have exceptional interpersonal skills, build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents, and nurture students' academic, social, and emotional growth.

At Karrinyup PS, we value safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environments. Staff implement Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) and our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework, fostering belonging, responsibility, and high expectations across the school.
