Principle Disciplinary Officer - Fair Trading and Regulatory Services

Grade :

Clerk Grade 9 / 10

Salary range :

$129,464 - $142,665 + superannuation and leave loading

Duration :

Full-time (temporary opportunity up to 12 months)

Location :

Hybrid work arrangement – based in Parramatta or a suitable regional location (subject to office capacity). Office attendance required 2–3 days per week

About the Role

The role involves assessing cases, preparing documentation compliant with legislative requirements to initiate proceedings, assess submissions, recommend outcomes, and make determinations.

Your responsibilities will include
  1. Reviewing briefs of evidence and submissions to recommend disciplinary actions.
  2. Preparing Notices to Show Cause and decisions regarding disciplinary measures.
  3. Providing instructions to legal officers and counsel in appeals to the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal and other courts, including reviewing relevant documents and evidence.
  4. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders such as investigators, inspectors, legal officers, counsel, and the executive.
  5. Supervising and managing a small team.
To be successful in this role you will have
  • Qualifications in law or policy, or relevant regulatory experience.
  • Understanding of investigation strategies, evidence rules, and procedural fairness.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and make informed decisions.
