ABOUT THE ROLE

A House Coordinator opportunity, North of the river.

Ngalla Bidee Mia (NBM) is Wungening's Out of Home Care program, delivering family-led, trauma-informed, and culturally safe services to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal children, young people, and families.

Aboriginal Children and Young People are significantly overrepresented in the Out of Home Care system. Through NBM, we are committed to a family restoration model that works in partnership with families, carers, and communities to nurture Moorditj Djerripin Koorlungas (Strong, Happy Children).

The NBM House Coordinator role is responsible for the day-to-day operation of a Group Foster Care home. This role ensures the delivery of structured, therapeutic, and culturally responsive care to Children and Young People living in the home.

Responsibilities overview:

Operate and lead a Group Foster Care home, applying a therapeutic care model grounded in cultural safety and child-centred practice.

Coordinate and supervise a 24/7 roster, ensuring appropriate coverage and support aligned with the individual needs of the Children and Young People.

Provide day-to-day line management and support to Support Workers, including supervision, performance feedback, and development planning.

Ensure the implementation of structured daily routines that foster safety, stability, and emotional wellbeing.

Provide collaborative case management processes, including assessment and care planning.

Ensure financials controls are in implemented in day-to-day operations of the Group Foster Care home and placements.

Support the care team in responding to behavioural, emotional, and developmental needs using trauma-informed and culturally safe approaches.

Work closely with families, carers, and the broader NBM and Department of Communities teams to support the overarching goal of family restoration.

Build and maintain consistent application of practices in line with Wungening values, policies, procedures, and guidelines (The Wungening Way).

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Commitment to empowering Aboriginal children and young people and their right to participate in discussions and decisions relating to their care.

Experience in Out of Home Care, child protection, or therapeutic residential/foster care services.

Demonstrated experience in a coordination role including roster management and staff coordination.

Experience working with trauma-informed, restorative, or therapeutic care models.

Commitment to achieve compliance, policy implementation, risk, and quality assurance in the Group Foster Care home setting.

Strong skills in incident management, crisis response, reporting, and safeguarding.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with staff, children, young people and other key stakeholders.

Problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities.

Sound computer skills, experience working with MS Office programs and data management systems

Diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field (or significant equivalent experience)

National Police Clearance (dated within the last 3 months)
