Zone Leader - Supervise volunteers, connect industry with young people, and keep your zones safe and running smoothly. Our STEM careers event for S1–S3 pupils, Careers Hive, will be in-person at the National Museum of Scotland. Careers Hive is an immersive careers education event designed to give students between the ages of 11-14 a new way to think about their futures.
Responsibilities- Supervising the volunteers assigned to your zones
- Facilitating interactions between the industry volunteers and young people
- Maintaining the safety of your space, including safe use and storage of equipment
- You will be a natural communicator and able to build rapport quickly and easily with young people.
- You will ideally have team supervisor experience in an events environment, where you have shown to be approachable, reliable, and supportive of team members.
- You will be experienced and confident at presenting to and facilitating groups of young people.
- You will have some experience in youth work or in an education setting or community education setting.
- A Scientific or STEM background is desirable but not essential, but you will have a passion for inspiring, encouraging and supporting the development of young people.
Training will take place on 23 and 24 October, prior to the event. Successful candidates for this post may be required to join the PVG scheme and be subject to a criminal check through Disclosure Scotland.
Details- Pay: £13.65 per hour
- Work hours: Approximately 30 hours over 4 days
- Location: National Museum of Scotland
- Key Dates: Training 23–24 October 2025; Live 27–30 October 2025
