What you'll be doing

ATechnology (ICT) generalistgraduate is a broad role, proficient in many facets of information technology without any specific speciality. In this role, you will help government business areas understand what digital technologies can offer. A technology (ICT) generalist graduate can fulfil many roles and should possess general business knowledge and good soft skills.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities in a technology (ICT) generalistrole may include :

contributing to a wide variety of support roles such as service desk, software and desktop supportconnecting the needs of the agency with technology opportunitiesproviding research, analysis and provide advice on trends to inform decisionstranslating technical information into plain English for business needscontributing to writing briefs, submissions, reports, presentations and correspondenceworking with people to create change and help the technology challenged.

Ideal candidates

Ideal candidates for a technology (ICT) generalistrole will have :

an interest in existing technology and emerging technologygood people and organisational skillsthe ability to work and contribute in a team environmenta high level of interpersonal, communication and liaison skillsthe ability to self-manage conflicting priorities and workloadsthe ability to produce detailed and accurate work including high level writing skills.

Technical skills and qualifications

Understanding of :

government writing stylestechnology in a business contextcustomer supportservice desk support.

Your degree may be in information technology, computer and software systems, information systems, database management, systems administration and project management.

If you have overseas qualifications, you will need to seek to have them recognised in Australia prior to applying.

You need to have completed a bachelor's degree in IT or a related field within the last 3 years or will finish by mid to end 2025 to be eligible for the start of the program in February 2026 or sooner if requested by the agency.

Interstate applicants should be made aware that positions offered are within Queensland Government, therefore relocation to Brisbane is mandatory. Interstate applicants are encouraged to apply; however, it is up to the successful graduate to arrange relocation and cover any moving costs involved.
