About the Opportunity:

The role of Assistant Claims Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of claims and ensuring their seamless resolution. This role will also demonstrate leadership to a team, provide strong customer experience, continuously improve and deliver on our customer claims promises.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Proactively manage a small portfolio of complex/high-value Accident and Health claims end to end.
  • Provide technical support and advice to claims assessors / operations.
  • Provide technical support and advice to claims assessors whilst developing, and monitoring business continuous improvement initiatives that will deliver business outcomes.
  • Oversight and support the robust RTW framework in conjunction with an agreed RTW provider and other stakeholders.
  • Act as a point of escalation for escalated claims, customer concerns and complaints.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills.
  • Support new and ongoing projects within the team.
  • Oversight of the claims float top-up processes including audits as required.
  • Manage emergency assistance cases daily, including actioning the relevant email inboxes and responding to routine enquiries from external emergency assistance providers.
  • Prior experience and knowledge in working with a medical emergency assistance provider and the management of these cases including the management of A/H calls and escalations as required by the business.
About You
  • Hold 5+ years' experience in General Insurance, Travel/PA Claims, or a similar line is essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • High level of attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to set and meet service levels and individual KPI's
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with business leaders and establish strong professional relationships across the enterprise
  • Change management experience will be helpful
  • Prior experience in leading, coaching and empowering people to develop individual and team potential is desirable
  • Understanding of FSRA, Privacy Act and General Insurance Code of Practice (GICOP)
