The Secondary Learning Support Teacher plays a crucial role in collaborating with the Learning Support team, secondary teachers, students, and parents to create an inclusive environment that enhances individualised student learning, engagement, and wellbeing in accordance with students' needs.

Role Overview:

• Act as the Secondary teacher liaison, under the guidance of the Head of Student Learning and Support, to provide individualised interventions for students.
• Support teachers in curriculum development for learning interventions.
• Advise teachers on managing the behavior of students with disabilities or special needs.
• Assist in record-keeping and documentation related to student progress and outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with school policies and child safety regulations.

Detailed Job Description:

The Secondary Learning Support Teacher supports the Learning Support team and liaises with secondary teachers to meet individualised learning needs, engagement, and wellbeing, fostering an inclusive environment for diverse students.

Responsibilities include:

• Adhere to all College policies and procedures.
• Safeguard and promote student welfare.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
• Support school processes and emergency procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

Christian Leadership:

• Model a Christ-like example in all activities.
• Exercise servant leadership with staff, students, parents, and the community.
• Perform duties prayerfully, aiming to glorify God.

Student Learning Support:

• Support in developing and implementing learning interventions.
• Assist in case management and data tracking.
• Provide targeted support through small groups or individual sessions.
• Conduct observations and assessments to inform interventions.
• Monitor and report on student progress.
• Prepare to act as Deputy to the Head of Student Learning and Support when needed.

Classroom and Curriculum Guidance:

• Support teachers in planning and developing curriculum for diverse learning needs.
• Manage resources and assist in developing literacy and numeracy skills.

Student Wellbeing and Engagement:

• Provide emotional and social support to students.
• Advise teachers on managing behavior of students with disabilities.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work collaboratively with staff, leadership, and parents.
• Participate in meetings, professional development, and training.

Administrative and Other Duties:

• Maintain documentation related to student progress and NCCD requirements.
• Develop Individual Plans in collaboration with teachers and parents.
• Contribute to data collection and moderation activities.
• Support co-curricular activities and ensure compliance with policies.

Support for High Potential or Gifted Students:

• Identify high potential students and develop support programs.
• Implement interventions to meet their needs.
