Workfast is looking for a qualified and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join the maintenance team of a leading engineering company in Moss Vale, NSW.

Location: Moss Vale, NSW

Pay Rate: $52.00 per hour + Overtime + Super

Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm

Start Date: ASAP

Workfast is seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join the workshop team of a leading engineering company in Moss Vale. This is a hands-on role focused on the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of locomotive bogies and freight wagons, including their air brake components and structural elements. Offering full-time hours and potential for permanent placement.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Overhaul, test, and certify air brake components and bogie assemblies used in diesel-electric locomotives and freight wagons
  • Perform detailed mechanical fitting, structural repairs, and maintenance
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of wagons on-site or within workshop facilities
  • Perform component change-outs and warranty repairs
  • Carry out brake testing, inspections, and examinations of wagons
  • Undertake structural body repairs and minor fabrication tasks
  • Operate hand and power tools, fixed and mobile plant as required
  • Complete all required documentation, including quality and production reports
  • Follow strict maintenance procedures and ensure safety policies are adhered to at all times

About You
  • Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter (Cert III or equivalent) or Vehicle Body Builder
  • Experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally within rail, heavy equipment, or industrial sectors
  • Welding qualifications and/or experience (advantageous)
  • Strong understanding of pneumatic systems and brake components (preferred)
  • Physically fit, safety-focused, and a good team player
  • Current RIW and White Card (preferred)
  • Truck licence (beneficial)
  • Flexible and willing to work overtime as required
