We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Veteran Engagement Coordinator to join our team at Invictus Australia in the Newcastle and Greater Hunter Area. This is a part-time, 3-day-a-week role, with the opportunity to work flexibly.

You will be responsible for providing opportunities and activities for the local Defence community to connect and engage through sport and recreation, and for ensuring the implementation and delivery of the IA community engagement strategy.

Candidates with a demonstrated understanding of the veteran community and ex-service organisations would be highly regarded, as is experience in sport participation and engagement. Veterans and those connected to the Defence community are encouraged to apply.

What you'll be doing
  1. Developing and implementing strategies to engage local veterans and their families, as well as the networks/organisations that support them, in local sporting communities.
  2. Organising and hosting regular events for veterans and their families to connect with local sporting communities.
  3. Building strong connections and collaborating with the defence and veteran communities, government agencies, and key IA stakeholders including sport organisations, ex-service organisations, ADF bases, Wellbeing Centres, and corporate partners.
  4. Identifying the needs of veterans and their families in the local community and connecting them with local sport and recreation communities.
  5. Promoting Invictus Australia's programs and initiatives to increase awareness and participation.
  6. Maintaining accurate records and reporting on the progress and impact of engagement activities.
What we're looking for
  1. Demonstrated experience in community engagement, stakeholder management, or veteran support services.
  2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and connect with a diverse range of people.
  3. Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  4. Deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by veterans and their families.
  5. Passion for supporting the veteran community and promoting their wellbeing.
  6. Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to the overall success of Invictus Australia.
  7. This position requires flexibility, with regular work on evenings and weekends to support events and organisational activities. Additional hours worked outside of standard hours will be compensated with equivalent time off in lieu, as per our organisational policy.
