CAWLS is a dynamic Community Legal Centre serving women in Central Australia and the Barkly Region, with offices in Alice Springs and Tennant Creek. We support women impacted by Domestic and Family Violence through a holistic and culturally safe approach.

Our services include legal representation, client support, financial counselling, community legal education, and law reform. We are dedicated to enabling, educating, and empowering women navigating the legal system while respecting their rights.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a part-time Human Resource Lead (3 days/week), working remotely. This role reports to the COO and is responsible for delivering comprehensive HR services and ensuring compliance with organisational policies and values.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, and exit processes
  • Providing HR support with sensitivity and confidentiality
  • Assisting in performance management and training development
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring HR policies for legal compliance
  • Maintaining accurate HR records and preparing reports
  • Assisting with payroll processes
About You

Qualifications required: a relevant HR qualification (e.g., Certificate IV in Human Resources) and at least 3 years' experience in a generalist HR role.

Valued skills and background include:

  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and enterprise agreements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle sensitive information
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team

You should demonstrate professionalism, initiative, and a passion for creating inclusive HR systems. Confidence in communication and alignment with our values are essential.
