THE ROLE

We're looking for a driven Senior Accountant—or someone ready to step up to Manager—to take ownership of managing and reviewing SMSFs alongside industry experts. You'll handle taxation and compliance for a diverse SMSF portfolio, delivering exceptional client care.

With hands-on coaching and a defined succession plan, strong team support, and plenty of opportunities to sharpen your technical skills, this role is designed to take your career to the next level. A positive, approachable personality and a can-do attitude are key in this client-centric role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Build and maintain strong relationships with SMSF clients, delivering services aligned with firm standards and values
• Communicate clearly and regularly with clients and internal teams
• Identify and advise on opportunities during client interactions
• Manage day-to-day client queries, ensuring timely and satisfactory responses
• Complete SMSF year-end compliance including financial statements and tax returns, ensuring accurate lodgments and regulatory deadlines are met
• Prepare workpapers and maintain thorough documentation
• Manage fund establishment and wind-up processes, liaising with auditors, actuaries, and third parties
• Collaborate closely with the SMSF Manager, business services, and Financial Planning teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
• Assist in training and supporting junior team members
• Contribute to firm initiatives, process improvements, and performance reviews
• Stay updated on superannuation and tax law changes and ensure proficiency in key software (Class, tax preparation tools, etc.)
• Identify and promote additional services beneficial to clients (e.g., financial planning, lending)
• Take ownership of personal development through internal and external training
• Participate in firm events, marketing, and thought leadership activities

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE :

• At least 5 years' experience in SMSF compliance in a public practice environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a growth mindset and willingness to learn.
• Strong technical knowledge of SMSF compliance and superannuation law
• Ability to manage a client base independently
• Proficiency in Class and / or other SMSF software
• Willingness to mentor junior staff.
• Demonstrated success in business development or cross-selling services
• Proven ability to contribute to team initiatives and firm-wide improvements
