If you are passionate about property finance and eager to make a significant impact within a respected investment platform, this is your chance to take your career to new heights.

  • Newly created senior position offering genuine influence over the direction of large-scale commercial mortgage origination and portfolio growth within a leading private markets team.
  • Flexible location options in either Sydney CBD or Melbourne, with access to a collaborative network of experienced investment professionals and analysts.
  • Supportive workplace culture that champions equal opportunity, professional development, and a commitment to responsible investing across all activities.
What you'll do

As Director of Property, you will be entrusted with driving the growth of the commercial mortgage portfolio by originating high-quality lending opportunities above $10 million. Your day-to-day responsibilities will centre around identifying new business prospects within the commercial real estate landscape while developing strategic sales initiatives that support long-term organisational objectives. You will be instrumental in building enduring relationships with key industry players—brokers, developers, investors—and representing the firm at prominent events. Your analytical acumen will be put to use as you evaluate complex financials and structure bespoke loan solutions tailored to both client requirements and internal risk parameters. Working collaboratively with talented colleagues across investment teams, you will manage rigorous due diligence processes before preparing compelling proposals for Investment Committee review. Negotiation skills will come into play as you finalise terms with borrowers and oversee seamless transaction closings. Staying abreast of evolving market trends will ensure your recommendations remain relevant and impactful. Success in this role requires not only technical proficiency but also a passion for teamwork, relationship-building, and contributing positively to a shared vision.

  • Identify, pursue, and cultivate new business opportunities within the commercial real estate market by focusing on high-value loans exceeding $10 million.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans designed to achieve ambitious loan origination targets in alignment with the organisation's overall investment strategy.
  • Build and nurture robust relationships with key stakeholders such as commercial real estate brokers, developers, investors, attorneys, accountants, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Represent the organisation at industry events and networking functions to enhance visibility and foster valuable connections within the property sector.
  • Analyse complex financial statements, property valuations, and market data to assess borrower creditworthiness and project viability for proposed investments.
  • Structure competitive loan terms and conditions that align with both client needs and internal risk appetite while adhering to established investment criteria.
  • Collaborate closely with internal investment teams throughout the due diligence process, ensuring comprehensive evaluation of each opportunity.
  • Prepare detailed investment papers and loan proposals for presentation to the Investment Committee, articulating key risks and value drivers clearly.
  • Negotiate loan terms and documentation with borrowers and their representatives while managing the closing process efficiently from start to finish.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current commercial real estate trends, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics; contribute insights to ongoing market research discussions.
What you bring

To excel as Director of Property, you bring extensive experience in commercial real estate lending—particularly in structuring large-scale transactions—and possess a deep familiarity with all facets of property finance. Your background includes hands-on involvement in originating substantial loans for varied asset classes such as industrial or non-conforming residential properties. You have honed your analytical skills through years of evaluating intricate financial statements and market data while developing innovative solutions that balance risk with reward. Your established network within the industry allows you immediate access to potential clients and referral partners. Beyond technical expertise, your interpersonal strengths shine through in every interaction: you communicate persuasively whether presenting proposals or negotiating terms; you collaborate seamlessly across teams; you build rapport quickly with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds; and you approach every task with meticulous care. Your ability to juggle multiple priorities without sacrificing quality makes you an invaluable asset—one who thrives on supporting others' success as much as your own.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Real Estate or related discipline is essential for success in this role.
  • At least 10 years' experience in commercial real estate lending with a proven record of originating large mortgages above $10 million is required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of commercial property finance including loan structuring, underwriting processes, and documentation standards is vital.
  • Exceptional financial analysis skills coupled with advanced modelling capabilities enable effective assessment of complex deals.
  • An established network within the commercial real estate sector provides immediate access to referral sources and deal flow opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability in business development and sales ensures consistent achievement of origination targets through relationship-driven strategies.
  • Outstanding communication skills facilitate clear interactions with clients as well as persuasive presentations before committees or external partners.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities foster trust-based collaborations both internally among teams and externally with stakeholders across diverse backgrounds.
  • Meticulous attention to detail combined with excellent organisational skills supports efficient management of multiple concurrent transactions.
  • Ability to work dependably both independently when required and as part of an interdependent team environment enhances overall performance.
