Responsibilities- Under the direction of the principal, perform a variety of tasks that promote student learning and well-being to support students who are diploma bound.
- Facilitate student mastery of grade-level or above curriculum; support students in general education classes and may provide individualized or small group reinforcement of instruction.
- Provide instructional and classroom management supports, as well as related clerical tasks to support teachers and other professional staff in various classrooms or learning environments.
- Assist with planning and continuing instructional activities during teacher temporary absences.

- Knowledge of child development and instructional strategies; understanding of MCPS instructional goals and policies.
- Ability to implement instructional programs and monitor/ensure appropriate student behavior.
- Patient, able to work with children, young adults, and staff; able to follow written and verbal instructions; strong communication skills.
- Ability to read/write/speak English; ability to interact with and support students with special needs.
- Proficiency with standard computer hardware and software such as Google Workspace, MS Office, and web-based instructional tools.
- Ability to learn and apply the SSPGS core competencies.
- Option 1: Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred; coursework related to education (e.g., behavior management, instructional strategies); 1 year of experience with students in structured educational settings preferred.
- Option 2: At least 48 college credits and two years of experience in a structured setting (e.g., daycare, pre-school, etc.).
- Option 3: Two years of experience in a structured setting (e.g., daycare, pre-school, after-school, etc.) with successful ParaPro Assessment score of 455 or higher.
- Option 4: Any combinations of applicable education, training, and experience that provide the required knowledge, abilities, and skills.
