The Social Worker role in Mistral Place, Statewide Mental Health Services is essential for delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care. Social Workers play a critical part in facilitating timely and safe discharges by addressing complex social needs, which promotes patient flow, reduces delayed discharges, and helps prevent avoidable readmissions. Their expertise ensures that patients have the right support in place to maintain their recovery in the community, reducing the risk of relapse.
The RoleAs part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Social Worker will:
- Undertake the delivery of quality care to consumers of the Inpatient and Extended Treatment Mental Health Service based on best practice principles and within a collaborative and multi-disciplinary framework.
- Provide a specialist assessment and treatment service to consumers of Inpatient and Extended Treatment Mental Health Service and their families or carers.
- Promote community awareness in relation to mental health and act as a consultant to other agencies with regard to the support and management of consumers with mental health needs.
- Knowledge of current and contemporary social work and client-centred practice including the clinical management of consumers with complex care needs relevant to an adult mental health context.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgement and initiative and to work with general supervision and to seek guidance where appropriate.
- Demonstrated time-management skills and ability to prioritise and monitor a busy workload while providing a high standard of consumer care.

Details of appointmentPermanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary$73,834 to $111,364 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.
You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Overseas qualified Social Work candidates require a "certification of eligibility" letter from the AASW to confirm their eligibility for membership to the AASW
- Or where regulatory requirements exist, NDIS Q&S Commission Provider Registration Requirements
- Full member of Australian Association of Social Workers
Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee's responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
