The Role

We are seeking an experienced Bicycle Mechanic with expertise in electric bike repair to join our team and be the face of Zoomo at our Melbourne location. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid role, leading our store\'s retail Front of House — helping riders onboard and gain riding skills — and using their technical expertise in the Back of House workshop to service and repair bikes, ensuring they are safe, reliable, and performing at their best.

On offer is a casual position with the potential to transfer to permanent part-time (32 hours per week).

This role requires a reliable and confident self-starter who enjoys making an impact, working as part of a team, and bringing energy. The successful individual will report to our City Operations Manager of Melbourne.

Your main responsibilities
  • Ensure our riders have a seamless in-person support experience
  • Take our riders through onboarding and all safety requirements
  • Help riders troubleshoot issues they may experience
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on Zoomo\'s e-bikes, including replacing batteries, motors, controllers, wiring, brakes, drivetrain components, and suspension systems
  • Utilize specialized tools to perform advanced repairs (wheel truing, headset adjustments, frame alignment)
  • Communicate effectively with customers, providing maintenance, repair, and upgrade recommendations
  • Keep accurate records of all work performed on bicycles, including parts and labor
  • Maintain a clean, organized workshop and properly store tools and equipment
  • Collaborate with the City Operations Manager to drive continuous process and operational improvements
Requirements
  • Experience with e-bikes and their electrical components (e.g., lithium-ion batteries)
  • Experience in a retail or customer-facing operational environment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Comfortable working with tools and software
  • Attention to detail and pride in quality of work
  • Team player, willing to help others and get hands dirty
  • Passion for bikes or cycling
