Overview

Principal Project Officer, UQ Respect – The University of Queensland. This is a full-time fixed-term position through to August 2026 with a salary in the range $102,565 - $111,686 (HEW 7), plus a 17% superannuation allowance. Based at the St Lucia campus.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the end-to-end delivery of projects related to respectful behaviors and the prevention of gender-based violence, including developing project plans, collating documents, and providing operational and strategic guidance on initiatives.
  • Conduct systemic reviews and high-level evaluations, including gender-impact assessments, and undertake project-specific research to support evidence-informed recommendations.
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders to support project delivery, promotion, and evaluation; prepare reports and proposals for internal committees and external regulatory bodies.
  • Contribute to aligning UQ Respect initiatives with relevant legislation and the forthcoming National Higher Education Code, and embed evaluation into future programs.
Essential qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and at least four years of experience, or an equivalent combination; ability to plan projects and prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proven expertise in research, data analysis, scoping, and evaluation in large-scale settings; ability to provide high-level guidance on planning and strategic direction for GBV prevention and response initiatives.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to build productive relationships and communicate sensitive information with stakeholders at all levels; advanced written and oral communication skills.
  • Current knowledge of gender-based violence, student support, and workplace sexual harassment legislation and its application in practice.
  • Blue Card: holder of a current Queensland Government Blue Card or ability to obtain one.
Desirable
  • Postgraduate qualifications in a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of the Australian higher education sector and current issues impacting student experience.
  • Experience in compliance, risk management and policy interpretation in complex organisations.
Other requirements
  • Must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of the appointment. Background checks including criminal history and education checks may be required. Employer sponsored work rights are not available.
