As a Principal Data & AI Consultant you will sit at the sharp end of our go-to-market motion, partnering with sales and delivery leaders to shape winning proposals and trusted client relationships. You will use your broad expertise across data engineering, analytics, data science, ML/AI, optimisation, simulation, warehousing and business intelligence to address complex business challenges in regulated sectors and drive client value.
Responsibilities- Craft solution visions that address complex business challenges in regulated sectors such as finance, healthcare, energy and government.
- Lead presales engagements – workshops, discovery sessions, RFP/RFI responses, business cases and architecture deep-dives.
- Design demonstrators and PoCs that showcase the art of the possible and accelerate buying confidence.
- Translate scope into delivery-ready programmes, ensuring a seamless hand-over to our engineering and consulting teams.
- Champion best practice and responsible AI, embedding security, privacy, governance and ethical considerations from day one.
- Mentor consultants and engineers, elevating capability across the region and contributing to global communities of practice.
Essential Skills
- 12+ years in data & AI, with at least 5 in a client-facing consulting or presales capacity.
- Demonstrable track record shaping >A$1 m data/AI deals end-to-end – from opportunity qualification through to contract signature.
- Deep hands-on knowledge of modern data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake), migration patterns and AI/ML tooling (SageMaker, Vertex AI, Azure ML, LangChain).
- Proven leadership across full data lifecycle – ingestion, modelling, governance, analytics, machine learning & MLOps.
- Excellent storytelling and workshop-facilitation skills; able to simplify complex concepts for C-suite and technical teams alike.
Desirable Skills
- Thought-leadership credentials (conference speaking, whitepapers, patents).
- Familiarity with Australian regulatory frameworks (e.g. CPS 230, APRA CPG 235, My Health Record).
- Certifications such as Azure/Data & AI Architect, AWS ML Specialty, Google Professional Data Engineer.
- Experience designing agent-based or generative-AI solutions.
- Exposure to mine-to-market, utilities or public-sector modernisation programmes.
