Principal Accountant

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Accountant to join our Finance team within the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business (CDSB). As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for overseeing client budgets, producing monthly reports, providing high-level financial services, analytics, and advice principally to the Government Wireless Network program, and Customer, Small and Family Business division within the department.
The Finance team within the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business provides a range of financial services and advice to divisional areas to effectively manage departmental budgets and enable strategic decision-making in alignment with the CDSB Strategic Plan.
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for overseeing client budgets, producing monthly reports, providing high-level financial services, analytics, and advice principally to the Government Wireless Network program, and Customer, Small and Family Business division.
Your resposibilities.
As the Principal Accountant, you will:
- Manage and contribute to the development and delivery of management accounting services such as budgeting, financial management and performance reporting.
- Develop detailed costing models, accurate forecasts and high-quality financial reports to support the departmental decision making.
- Provision of the financial management requirements of the annual State Budget including the preparation of the Service Delivery Statement, Estimates Committee brief, and reconciliations between CBRC and TRIDATA.
- Provision of financial analysis and support to tender and bid evaluations and contract management activities including monitoring vendor financial performance.
- Maintain and develop constructive, collaborative working relationships with clients and stakeholders through participating in regular client meetings and maintaining frequent communication to appreciate and resolve emergent financial issues.
- Support the provision of asset and lease accounting services over the significant projects' asset base, including facilitating valuations and maintaining depreciation schedules.
- Promote and support a workplace culture of equity, diversity, respect and inclusion, and proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of your staff.
Please note: This position is part of the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business (CDSB) as part of the recent Machinery-of-Government changes. CDSB is currently in negotiations for a certified agreement to cover all CDSB employees. In the meantime, the Core Agreement conditions apply to this position.
