Overview

Sims Metal is a global leader in metal recycling. The VIC Maintenance team is seeking a motivated and experienced Maintenance Fitter – Fixed Plant to join our Brooklyn-based site. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for preventative maintenance, servicing, and day-to-day repairs on fixed plant equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on fixed plant equipment, including hammermill shredders, conveyor systems, balers, and metal sorters
  • Work to a daily maintenance plan and complete all relevant documentation
  • Respond to and assist with equipment breakdowns
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and quality protocols
About You
  • Trade qualified Fitter & Turner, with experience in conveyors, motors, and gearboxes
  • Confident in general welding
  • Hold a current driver's license
  • Hands-on experience in a similar heavy industrial or metal processing environment
  • Strong diagnostic and repair skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
