The Opportunity

The Assistant Manager at Q Station is a key leadership role that supports the Rooms Division Manager (RDM) in overseeing day-to-day hotel operations, stepping in as the hotel representative in their absence. This position is responsible for ensuring smooth front office operations, leading the team, and maintaining a high level of customer service at all times. Additionally, the role involves close collaboration with all departments to coordinate activities and support logistical requirements for events and other operations across the hotel.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily front office operations and support the Front Office Team.
  • Manage the Front Office Team in the absence of the Rooms Division Manager.
  • Uphold the hotel's values and principles, ensuring a high level of customer service by managing guest requests and resolving complaints.
  • Assist with rostering, report writing, and maintain the daily Duty Log.
  • Support Reservations as required and perform Night Audit shifts when needed.
  • Support staff onboarding and training to ensure confidence in service and delivery of the Q Station guest experience.
  • Communicate effectively through daily briefings to ensure clear expectations for each shift.
  • Act as a liaison between departments to support safety, maintenance, events, and overall guest experience.
  • Ensure adherence to department policies and procedures.
  • Participate in and contribute to weekly team meetings.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a busy hotel front office management role, or ready to step up with substantial supervisory experience.
  • Professional and personable demeanor, with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to move around a large hotel site as required to perform the duties of the role.
  • Experience with Protel (or similar), highly regarded.
  • Desire to take on challenges and exert a high level of creativity.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage both operational and administrative workload where required.
  • Availability to work across a range of mid-week, weekend and day/evening shifts on a rotating roster.
  • High attention to detail with exemplary service standards.
  • Current First Aid Certificate to be able to respond, attend and record all emergency incidents on site.
  • Current RSA certification and exercise RSA authority as required across site.
