About Northern Beaches Hospital
Operated by Healthscope, Northern Beaches Hospital (NBH) is located in Frenchs Forest, only 13kms north of Sydney CBD. The hospital is a contemporary 488 bed facility comprising of 60% public and 40% private beds. Providing a wide range of health services to the local community, including Surgery, a 50 bed Emergency Department, Intensive Care, Birthing, Paediatrics, Cardiac, Mental Health, Dialysis, Cancer Centre and Outpatients.
NBH has 13 operating theatres, one hybrid/cardiac catheter theatre, two Catheter Laboratories and four endoscopy procedure rooms, all supported by a critical care unit which includes two intensive care wards.
Northern Beaches Hospital is a dedicated facility for all patients in the local area. It was thoughtfully designed to optimise patient safety and overall experience, and to provide meaningful management and operational efficiencies that benefit everyone.

About the Role
The main function of the part time ED Admin Officer is to ensure efficient and effective registration of all patients that present at the Emergency Department of Northern Beaches Hospital, greeting and welcoming patients and visitors as soon as they arrive at the ED reception desk, directing them to the appropriate area or person, or personally attending to their needs.

This is a 24/7 service and the role will be required to work on a rotating 24/7 roster.

  • Ensure reception desk is kept tidy and presentable and is attended to at all times.
  • Register patients in a timely manner
  • Support the Patient Liaison & Admission teams where required and assist with the admission of patients from Emergency into the Hospital.
  • Certificate III in Health Administration or 2 years' experience in health administration roles (preferred)
  • Ability to work 24/7 rotating roster
  • Understanding of medical terminology would be an advantage
  • Intermediate skills in IT systems, in particular MSOffice and databases
  • Demonstrated experience of inpatient management systems e.g. WebPAS
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Aptitude to multitask and work to timelines
  • Trusted to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and within a team
  • Exceptional customer service, responding to patients and stakeholders in a timely, efficient, friendly and courteous manner
  • Fluency in English with well-developed oral and written communication
  • Good standard of computer literacy
