We are looking for someone to join our Melbourne cafe team as our Café Chef.

We've been roasting speciality coffee for over 30 years. From humble beginnings as a little coffee cart in Auckland, NZ, Allpress has evolved into a sophisticated brand that stands for flavour and service. About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team in the Melbourne cafe. Our Café is unique in its dual purpose to serve delicious coffee and food to our customers, but also exemplify the Allpress brand and showcase our coffee to potential wholesale customers.

This will be a Full Time, Mon – Fri role, with day time hours of work. Please note: from Spring, the role will shift to Tuesday–Saturday to better support café trade.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the kitchen at our Melbourne café and lead the kitchen team; bring our food vision to life every day.
  • Lead menu development across all four Allpress venues; create seasonal specials and ongoing menu evolution.
  • Collaborate within brand guidelines while contributing creative input and improvements.
  • Monitor kitchen finances and KPIs to ensure target margins are met; manage cost controls and procurement.
  • Provide clear communication, proactive problem solving, and strong organizational leadership.
  • From Spring, support café trade with schedule shifts (Mon–Fri to Tue–Sat).
About you
  • Experienced in a café kitchen.
  • A food lover with a keen eye for detail.
  • Experienced in menu development and cost management.
  • Sound understanding of managing kitchen finances, ensuring we meet our KPI's and target margins.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Leadership skills that inspire and engage your team, embodying the Allpress brand experience.
