+ About Us:

TheGreat Barrier Reef Traditional Owner Taskforce (ReefTO)is a grassroots, Traditional Owner-led initiative that honours the decades of work by Elders to assert cultural authority and rights to sea country. We're not just asking for a seat at the table—we're building our own.

ReefTO is guided by theReef 2050 Traditional Owner Implementation Plan, a living document created by mob, for mob. Our mission is to amplify Traditional Owner voices, elevate priorities, and drive genuine partnerships across the Reef.

ReefTO has three key objectives over the next 2-3 years:

  • Engage with Traditional Owners to establish a Sea Country Alliance.
  • Monitor and report on the delivery of actions in the TO Implementation Plan

We're currently in build-mode—laying strong foundations, navigating ambiguity, and pushing for impact. We need passionate, skilled people who are up for the challenge

This is a unique opportunity to lead ReefTO's digital communications and storytelling work – building a vibrant, culturally grounded presence that amplifies Reef Traditional Owner voices and drives engagement across Sea Country.

Reporting to the Director, Comms & Creative, you'll design and deliver high-impact digital campaigns, shape our website and social media strategies, and bring powerful stories to life across multiple platforms. Guided by the ReefTO Taskforce, you'll play a key role in strengthening community connections, growing our reach, and supporting the formation of a Sea Country Alliance.

  • Drive ReefTO's digital content strategy and deliver integrated campaigns across multiple platforms

  • Lead the planning, content creation, and audience segmentation for targeted EDM campaigns
  • Oversee ReefTO's social media strategy and content calendar, creating engaging, brand-aligned posts
  • Draft and edit content for all digital platforms, including websites, EDMs, social media, and campaign materials
  • Analyse performance data across digital channels and translate insights into continuous improvements

Strong writing and editing skills, producing clear, engaging, and culturally respectful content for diverse audiences

Confident managing social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram), websites (WordPress), and email marketing tools (Mailchimp)

Skilled at interpreting analytics and performance data to improve strategies and campaigns

Deep understanding of, and respect for, Reef Traditional Owners' aspirations, and a commitment to amplifying Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices

Culturally competent, with the ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities

Highly organised, with strong project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines

Experienced working with contractors, agencies, or partners to deliver digital projects and campaigns

Positive, collaborative and genuinely enthusiastic about ReefTO's mission
