Microsoft's Customer Experience and Success (CE&S) organization empowers customers to accelerate business value through differentiated experiences across Microsoft products and services. CE&S is responsible for all post-sales services, including consulting, customer success, and support across Microsoft's portfolio.

Within CE&S, the Customer Service & Support (CSS) organization builds trust by delivering a seamless support experience. CSS is powered by Microsoft's AI technology to help customers resolve issues quickly and securely, enabling more value from their Microsoft investments. As a Technical Support Engineer, you will own, troubleshoot and solve customer technical issues, and develop your problem-solving, collaboration and technical proficiency.

Location note: the role is based in Sydney; Australian citizenship is preferred.

Language skills: Korean, Japanese or Chinese/Mandarin preferred. The role requires ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check, on hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Response and Resolution: You own, investigate and solve customer technical issues, collaborating within and across teams and leveraging troubleshooting tools and practices.
  • Readiness: You lead or participate in building communities with peer delivery roles and, where appropriate, share your knowledge.
  • Proficiency development: You develop specific technical and professional proficiency to enable you to resolve customer issues, through training and readiness.
  • Product/Process Improvement: You identify potential product defects and escalate appropriately to resolve, contributing to Microsoft product improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field AND 2+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, IT consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience in a customer-facing role (internal and/or external).
  • 2+ years experience on technical projects.

Core Skills MECM Include

  • Experience in Microsoft Configuration Manager (current branch and previous versions) and preferred Microsoft Intune.
  • Microsoft Endpoint Manager Administration, High Availability for Sites, MECM Hierarchies, and Architecture.
  • Knowledge and advanced troubleshooting with Microsoft MECM/SCCM.
  • Task sequence creation and troubleshooting for OSD.
  • Experience in WSUS, Software Update Management, Windows updates implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Application deployment, packaging and content transfer via MECM and troubleshooting.
  • Co-management implementation and troubleshooting.
  • MECM Role implementation and troubleshooting.
  • SCCM Client health monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Operating Systems Concepts – Active Directory, Security, OS Internals.
  • Networking concepts – DNS, DHCP, protocols, devices.
  • IIS Concepts – Configuration, Architecture, SSL and Kerberos.
  • Strong experience in Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019 & 2022.
  • Enhanced HTTP & HTTPS MECM configuration.
  • Tools – Netmon, Perfmon, Procmon, SQL Profiler.
  • Basic SQL Server Administration concepts.

Security and compliance: Ability to meet security screening requirements. Australian citizenship preferred, role based in Sydney.
