About The Role

Our client is a world-leading funding scheme that supports and improves the lives of people with disabilities. They are seeking an Economist - Economics and Insights to join their team in Surry Hills NSW on a 12-month contract with potential extension.

The ideal candidate will have superior analytical and problem-solving skills applied to complex economic issues, with a Bachelor's degree in economics and econometrics or similar, and proficiency in statistical software (R, Python, Stata, SAS).

In this role, you will address policy issues, contribute to systems design, and improve disability support markets through pricing and economic incentives.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with team members to address challenges in the care economy and human services markets.
  2. Engage in policy analysis regarding current and future support markets.
  3. Use statistical and economic modeling on large datasets to understand and improve market functioning.
  4. Design pilot studies to address market failures and information asymmetries.
  5. Coordinate across teams and with external experts to align priorities.
  6. Influence resource allocation to support projected growth of the scheme.

About The Economics And Insights Team

The team analyzes cross-sector economic issues using economic analysis, research frameworks, and modeling tools to support sustainable and effective resource allocation.

About You

You are an experienced Economist with a proven track record of reliability and analytical expertise.

The Successful Candidate Will Possess

Essential Criteria

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex economic issues.
  • Structured approach to quantitative and qualitative problems, with developed analytical frameworks.
  • Quantitative mindset with technical skills in data analysis.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.

Desirable Criteria

  • Bachelor degree in economics and econometrics or similar.
  • Proficiency with statistical software (R, Python, Stata, SAS).
