ABOUT THE POSITION: The purpose of the position is to transfer, rehouse and relabel flood-affected Geology Collections housed at Merri-bek Collection facility to restore accessibility.
Notable skills and experiences: Sound knowledge of and experience in Geology disciplinary and collection cataloguing frameworks.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with geological collections is an advantage.
Sound knowledge and experience of managing and organising collections, especially science collections.
Equivalent associated skills and experience will be considered.
Demonstrated skills and experience in handling museum objects, and especially science collections, including awareness of typical object conservation techniques.
Sound knowledge of and experience in using electronic collection management databases in museums.
Experience with KE EMu and MVWISE is an advantage.
Well-developed communication skills, both written and interpersonal, and the ability to work autonomously and in teams.
Sound time-management skills and demonstrated attention to detail.
Ordinarily occupants of similar positions would hold an appropriate tertiary qualification in Earth Sciences and have extensive knowledge of geology.
OTHER INFORMATION: Successful applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Records Check and a Working with Children Check.
