
Portfolio Office Lead

Knox City Council is seeking a strategic and collaborative Portfolio Office Lead to join the Strategy and Transformation team. This role is pivotal in driving excellence across our portfolio and project management practices, ensuring visibility, governance, and continuous improvement.
This is a full-time or part-time (4 days per week) permanent role, based at the Knox Civic Centre. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.
Remuneration will be a Band 7 classification with a salary of A$110,732.77 – A$124,789.64 (pro-rata for part time) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
Responsibilities- Provide analysis and reporting on portfolio and project health and progress, including financial management and benefits realisation, to governance bodies and council stakeholders, in coordination with the Head of Portfolio and Change Management.
- Liaise with Program Leads and Project Managers to ensure portfolio and project level reporting is accurate and timely.
- Report to the Head of Portfolio and Enterprise Change and have line management responsibility for one Portfolio Analyst.
- Proven track record of running a Portfolio Management Office or delivering programs on time and on budget using disciplined planning and mastery of project management techniques and processes.
- Critical skills including program and project health reporting, decision making, influencing and a high level of financial acumen.
- The skills to provide strategic oversight to enable monitoring of interdependencies across the portfolio of projects.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication aptitude is essential.
- Strong collaboration and relational skills with a proven track record of developing staff capabilities with a demonstrated commitment to respect for the individual and integrity in relationships and communications.
- Demonstrated skill in managing analysis and hypothesis-driven problem-solving.
- Developed strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think laterally, courageously and creatively when developing solutions.
- Aptitude to develop meaningful reports and data-driven insights and dashboards.
