ABOUT THE ROLE
Kinexus is seeking a senior project manager to deliver high-impact Defence engineering projects from Sydney. In this role, you'll oversee technical outcomes, lead multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
This is an opportunity to combine your project management and engineering expertise to manage complex engineering challenges and deliver real capability to the ADF.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project Leadership: Plan and manage technical aspects of projects, ensuring outcomes meet schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
- Team Management: Lead and motivate project teams, allocating resources effectively and driving delivery against project milestones.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring requirements are clearly defined and delivered.
- Project Controls: Manage project planning, scheduling, risk, change, earned value metrics, and financial reporting.
- Engineering Integration: Translate customer requirements into system-level solutions, applying systems engineering methods across hardware and software integration.
- Documentation & Reporting: Review, approve, and produce clear technical documentation and project reports that meet both company and customer standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive new design approaches, process improvements, and quality enhancements to support ongoing program delivery.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Project Management Expertise: Demonstrated success delivering complex technical projects in a Defence environment (essential).
- Systems Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of systems engineering principles across hardware/software development, integration, and verification.
- Leadership & Communication: Excellent team leadership and communication skills, with the ability to represent the company at senior levels.
- Qualifications: Bachelor of Engineering, Science, or related technical degree.
- Security Clearance: Must be an Australian Citizen and hold or be eligible for an Australian Security Clearance (minimum NV1).
HIGHLY DESIRABLE
- Formal project management training (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent).
- Experience with bid and pursuit activities under an Australian government acquisition model.
- Familiarity with agile or DEVSECOPS environments.
- Prior success managing complex projects involving software, hardware, and integrated systems.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Australian Citizenship: Required for security clearance eligibility.
- Security Clearance: Must currently hold, or be able to obtain, a Defence Security Clearance.
