Working at CQUniversityThe Office of the University Solicitor within the Corporate Services Division delivers expert legal services across CQUniversity, supporting the University's operations through advice on contracts, compliance, property matters, litigation, and broader regulatory obligations. The team collaborates closely with faculties and divisions to proactively manage legal risk and enable confident, informed decision-making.
You will play a pivotal role in safeguarding CQUniversity's operations. Your primary responsibilities include delivering timely, practical legal advice, managing complex legal matters, and supporting the University Solicitor on key projects and priorities. You will be a confident and collaborative legal professional, ideally with experience in large or complex organisations. Strong proficiency in interpreting legislation, drafting contracts, and representing clients in legal proceedings is essential.

- Admitted as a Solicitor in Australia, with at least five years' post-admission experience.
- Current unregistered Queensland Law Society Practising Certificate, or eligibility to obtain one.
- Strong knowledge of Australian commercial and administrative law, including regulatory frameworks and evolving government policy.
- Demonstrated legal experience in complex organisations, ideally within higher education.
- Ability to deliver ethical, independent legal advice on complex matters.
- Demonstrated ability to draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts.
