Urbis shaping futures your way The Opportunity We're on the lookout for a dynamic Senior Consultant to join our Strategic Planning team. You will have the choice of being in our Sydney CBD or Parramatta CBD offices, or both Leveraging your technical expertise and proven skills, you'll support our clients by offering sound statutory and strategic urban planning advice and insights. As a senior strategic planner, you will lead and contribute to the delivery of high-impact land use planning and policy projects, primarily for public sector clients. This role involves the development of regional and local planning strategies, growth frameworks and technical studies that guide future land use, housing, employment and infrastructure outcomes. You will :
- Lead or contribute to the preparation of strategic land use planning projects, including growth strategies, precinct plans, employment and housing studies and supporting technical inputs.
- Provide high-quality planning analysis and advice informed by current government policies, regional and local priorities and stakeholder needs.
- Collaborate with internal and external multidisciplinary teams, including specialists in the fields of economics, urban design, transport, infrastructure advisory, community planning and stakeholder engagement.
- Prepare and review reports, presentations and public-facing documents that communicate complex planning concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Support the preparation of proposals and tender submissions, including scoping, methodology development and fee estimates.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders through workshops, meetings and presentations.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard of quality.
- Identify and raise issues which may impact fee estimates and / or timelines.
- Coach and develop individuals with the team, as appropriate. About You :
- Holds tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Town Planning or a related discipline.
- Ideally minimum 5 years' experience in Urban Planning.
- Strong knowledge of strategic planning, and related legislation, ideally gained in a consultancy or local / State government environment.
- Working knowledge of spatial planning tools, GIS and data analytics platforms is desirable.
- Proficient appreciation and understanding of statutory planning frameworks, controls and processes.
- Strong understanding of strategic policies, processes and influences;
- Proficient appreciation and understanding of impacts and issues affecting land use and development.
- Considerable skills and experience in preparing for and presenting effectively in a variety of forums.
- Proficient capability in written and verbal communications and engagement with a variety of stakeholders. Why Urbis? As a member of our team, you will have the benefit of :
