Overview

Join and apply for the Shift Manager Sydney Line Maintenance role at Qantas. This is a permanent full-time shift work opportunity based in Sydney. Qantas Engineering maintains the Qantas fleet and aircraft for third-party customers, underpinning the Group's operations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership to the maintenance and support groups within the Sydney Line Maintenance business with a focus on production, on-time performance (OTP), and resource management.
  • Manage the 24/7 operations of a large number of technical and operational staff to complete multiple routine and technically complex aircraft maintenance events, including major disruptions across multiple shifts and crews.
  • Oversee transit activities, repair and rectification, prioritisation, and tactical redeployment of aircraft and crews.
  • Model and embed the Qantas Beliefs and Values across the SLM business.
To Be Successful, You Will Have
  • Proven operational decision-making abilities, delivering objectives under pressure while upholding Qantas values.
  • Extensive experience in aircraft maintenance, including more than 5 years managing an aircraft maintenance or engineering environment (Part 42), with tertiary engineering qualifications.
  • Knowledge across finance, human resources, and employee relations.
  • Solid understanding of CASA Civil Aviation Safety Regulations, other NAA airworthiness regulations, and regulatory frameworks governing WHS, industrial relations, and environmental compliance.
  • Strong track record in leading teams and driving performance.
  • Ability to develop and present concepts translating into tangible business benefits.
  • Well-developed project management skills with a focus on delivery and execution.
  • In-depth knowledge of aircraft Line and Base Maintenance operations and planning processes.
  • Advanced analytical thinking and adaptable problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills across a range of stakeholders; excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage competing priorities; proactive and collaborative, with the ability to work independently or build cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work a rotational shift roster.
