As a seasoned Electrical Lines Technician, you will work within a dynamic team delivering high-quality solutions in the Rail industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and install overhead electrical lines, catenary wires, and associated infrastructure according to engineering guidelines and safety regulations.
  • Perform regular inspections of the catenary system to identify potential issues, such as sagging wires, damaged insulators, and worn components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in the overhead lines to ensure proper functioning of the traction power supply for trains.
  • Comply with rail safety laws and protocols while working in the rail corridor.
  • Operate specialized tools and equipment, including elevated work platforms and electrical testing devices, to perform duties efficiently and safely.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as power outages or line damage, and undertake necessary repairs to restore functionality.
  • Complete accurate and timely work orders, maintenance records, and reports documenting all performed work on the overhead lines.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams, rail engineers, and supervisors to coordinate activities and ensure reliable performance of the catenary system.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in overhead lines maintenance to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • A valid Rail Worker's Induction (RWI) or Rail Industry Safety Induction (RISI) card.
  • Relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience as an Electrical Lines Technician in the Australian Rail industry.
  • Proven experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing overhead electrical lines and catenary systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems commonly used in the rail industry, including traction power supply and signaling equipment.
  • A strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures while working in the rail corridor.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks, work at heights, and in various weather conditions.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating shift schedule, including weekends and public holidays if required.
